Thank God I know vaguely what Japanese hiragana is because otherwise I'd be completely and utterly lost with this code thing (although, that's as if to say I'm still not mostly lost...) This show just wasn't made for a western audience 😔

20:13 That man cannot be alive.

Can these kids have like one nice trip without coming across a dead body or almost getting murdered...

So.. Yusaku just read these coded letters and knew the guy was being forced to counterfeit money and just didn't do anything about it??!!:!:+!';?

the aunt's dead, the painter's dead, and Yuusaku deduced the counterfeit $20 plate was 'missing' by the following... i think.

1 the letters stopped suddenly, probably when the painter died. we see his corpse, allegedly, in the hidden room with the 'next letter' atop the desk where he slumped over and perhaps died from his heart condition.

2 the professor said, 'my aunt gave me these letters'... but he doesn't explain WHY she gave them to him. my guess, they were in her personal belongings and the professor was her only living relative. so the professor got the letters as part of his aunt's estate when she passed. remember, the professor said his uncle didn't have kids in part1... and the portrait of JUST the aunt does hint that the painter and her were on... intimate terms... ;) perhaps a secret love affair ;) the painter had to go into hiding at some point so PERHAPS the aunt turned into a spinster waiting for her 'lover' to return from hiding. also, the professor stated that his uncle died first and his aunt moved out of their house and died at the age of 76.

3. IF Yuusaku cracked the code along the edges of the letters... the professor would have ONLY known the hiragana in the CENTER of the letters. the coded messages around the borders could have told Yuusaku the whole story. so maybe he didn't need to deduce anything, it was all in-front of him in black and white!

those are my guesses. :D

Oh that makes so much more sense!!Yusaku wasn't being heartless he already knew the guy was dead!

These are some smart 6 year olds, not including Conan obviously since he's actually Shinichi but he's also insanely smart too. The chandelier thing was cool. I can't believe it was the painter making the code the whole time, but that also means he wasn't the theif. So who is the theif then? Maybe a relative of the painter? omg that guy almost shot Conan, it's been awhile since we've seen a criminal whose this threatening. Conan is so cool. Oh, so his aunt isn't alive anymore. Wait did the painter fall in love with the aunt!? These 2 episodes were really good.

the author of this manga... he's so so smart and talented to come out with these riddles and mysteries each time. i'm really impressed by this code of the sun moon and star like it's so mind blowing to create this!!!!

So Sinichi‘s dad tell the aunt that the painter has written the letters with codes to tell her that he lived there to get away from someone who asked him to make counterfeit money. The painter knew that hidden room from the time he was asked to paint Agasa‘s uncle and aunt. How did the bad guy knew that the painter sent Agasa‘s aunts letter? Just how many months (?) since the painter has died? What did the aunt decide after knowing who has sent her the letter? it’s a bit confusing since the painter ended up dying alone until he remains as skeletons.
